Time to get a new puppy!
What are you going to do about a name?
You can’t have your new pup walking around without knowing who he or she is.
Plus, a dog’s name is super important—for safety and training purposes.
You should choose wisely. That’s why we’ve created this post. In it, you’ll find three tips to help you pick the perfect name for your pup.
Let’s jump right in:
Pick a Name Everyone in Your Family Likes
Not choosing a name that everyone in your family likes can be problematic. It’s not an overstatement to say that if someone doesn’t like the name of a dog, they won’t like the dog.
If He’s Not a Hank, He’s Not a Hank
Once you choose a name, test it out for a few days. See if it fits. If you name your dog Hank and he’s not a Hank, time to go back to the drawing board.
Be in it to Win It (For the Long Haul)
You should choose your dog’s name with the long haul in mind. Meaning, naming your dog something like “Baby” might not work well when he or she is 12.
You now know three great tips to help you choose the perfect name for your pup. Use them; and you, your family, and your pup will be happy. When you’re ready, please contact Lose The Leash to get your pup started on one of our convenient training programs.
