Dogs are man’s best friend…
Or so they say.
While we all love our dogs, there are times where your dog has probably seemed more like your worst enemy than your best friend.
Maybe you were out for a walk whenever they went berserk after another dog.
Maybe you went on a family vacation and when you returned, they had left your house in ruin.
Maybe they just annoy the living daylights out of you every night whenever they incessantly beg at the dinner table.
Whatever the case, we know the struggle.
And we also know how to fix it.
If you are not currently looking to hire professional trainers who can rapidly transform your dog from wildly misbehaved to wildly obedient, there are still a couple of commands your dogs need to know and follow to make your life as easy as possible.
1. Sit
This is one of the easiest tricks that you can teach your dog.
Simply stand facing your dog with a treat held in your closed fist, slightly above their nose.
Next, slowly raise the treat up in the air until their hindquarters lower and they are sitting.
Once they are sitting, say “Sit”, give them the treat and loads of affection.
The key here is that you do not want to raise the treat too high or too fast, otherwise they may jump up or snap at your hand.
Once you have repeated this a few dozen times, start introducing a little bit of uncertainty by holding an empty hand, then a hand with a treat, then an empty hand again.
Eventually, you will be able to get your dog to sit on command with no rewards.
